Do you refrain from laughing at the most disturbing thought or at a topic that would be considered taboo by others? Well that makes you a member of the dark humor fan club. There are many like you who like their humor with a dark tinge. Fortunately, Hollywood and Bollywood seem to have cracked this code and consistently produced absolute gems in the category. Laughter can be loud or moderate, but the storylines are definitely anything but cliché and the stories are layered so well that you might have to try the movie more than once to really get it.

Andhadhun (Netflix)

One of director Sriram Raghavan's most interesting scenes is where Akash (Ayushmann Khurrana), a pianist who claims to be blind, plays the piano with a corpse that is removed from the same room, and all with a straight face. almost macabre but fascinating in its treatment; so much that you can't look away. There is evil, brutality, murder, sex, betrayal and surprises in this fun and exciting thriller. Watching Tabu play a deliciously devious woman is definitely a pleasure.

The Dictator (Netflix)

When a movie description says that it is "the heroic story of a North African dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy never comes to a country he has oppressed with so much love", then someone is bound to get offended. Admiral General Aladeen (Sacha Baron Cohen), the dictator of the fictitious Republic of Wadiya, above all manages to bridge the fine line between comedy and stubborn attack in this humorous tale not to be missed.

Birdman (Netflix)

A faded Hollywood actor tries to jumpstart his career by editing a Broadway adaptation of a short story. The title of the film comes from the superhero he was known to play. The film is soaring on several levels, making it the Oscar winner for Best Picture at the 87th Annual Awards.

Jojo (Roman Griffin Davis), 10, is a Hitler fanatic, whose conditioning against the Jews initially causes him to hate Elsa (Thomasin McKenzie), the girl who takes refuge from the Nazis in her house, but gradually gives way. place for more tender feelings, complicating things in his head. The real horrors of Nazi Germany during WWII are looming, but it's the treatment, wholeheartedly, that makes this film a must-see.

Fargo (Amazon Prime Video)

When Pulitzer Prize-winning critic Roger Ebert makes a statement like "Movies like Fargo are the reason I love movies," you know it's impossible not to watch it. The Coen brothers' penchant for maintaining the fine line between morbid and humor is well known and they use it superbly in their dialogue and characterization in the film that inspired a television series of the same name

Blackmail (Amazon Prime Video)

Blackmail a 2018 Hindi-language Indian Dark comedy co-produced and directed by Abhinay Deo. The blackmail describes the life of a married man in his thirties stuck in a day job and an uninspiring life, but things change after he finds out his wife is having an affair. Finding out your wife is having an affair is probably the most devastating blow for any loving husband, but turning the situation around and blackmailing the lover for the same is even crazier and more cunning. The film even includes a toilet paper sales executive who becomes entangled in the same trap he sets for the "other guy."
